In theoriginaldrawings, thegaragewasaseparate
building from the house, but due to the size of the
three level structure, thearchitectsatNormericasug-
gested theyattach it to thehouse. Thenanother level
was addedabove, tobalanceout theweight distri-
bution.
Mike happily obliged, relegating the additional
space as an office and impressive home gym. The
multi level garage is everyman’s dream, outfitted
with an assemblage of every toy imaginable...
kayaks, paddleboards, jet skis, windsurfers, Laser
sailboats, andof coursehisCan-AmSpydera three
wheel reverse-trikemotorcycle.
An engineer by trade,Mike spends a lot of time in
his“shop”creatingand repairing,andofcourse like
every classic Escarpment dweller, has a ski tuning
bench inarms reachof hisbeer fridge.
Certainly this project was a superior collaboration
betweennumerous talentedprofessionals, including
architects, designers, trades andbuilders, working
cooperatively with a decisive couplewho had a
clear anddefinite vision. The result isa truly striking
structure,embracedby ledgesand terraces. It seam-
lesslynestles into thesurroundingaestheticofnature,
beachandbay—all inperfect harmony.
