Q:
What other sporting endeavours have you persued?
A:
Prior to snowboarding, I had a very successful athletic career in the
sport of Judo. In 2006 I was named to Judo Canada Junior World
Team. I placed first in four National competitions in both Canada and
USA, and also qualified for the Canada Winter Games where I won a
silver and a bronze.
Q:
What is your history so far in Snowboard Cross events?
A:
In 2006 I won the Junior Nationals and decided to commit full time
to the sport of Snowboard Cross. By the end of the 2010 season I had
accumulated 9Nor-am podiums, was named to the Canadian National
Snowboard Team, and I received the Neil Daffern Award recognizing
me as the top snowboard prospect who demonstrated an outstanding
level of commitment and competency in the sport.
Q:
Have you suffered any injuries?
A:
In 2011, I suffered with a separated
shoulder from a fall during the Winter X Games but returned a year
later, rested and determined to have my best season so far on theWorld
Cup circuit. With three top 12 finishes, and World Ranking 17, I am
reaching my peak leading into the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Q:
How do you handle the costs of the sport?
A:
In the off-season I run a business called StoneyLinks at Denson Land-
scaping. I am a stonemason and I specialize in European Style Stone
Work. Using fieldstone from within the area, our small team creates
unique home projects. This helps me cover some costs—I do everything
I can to cover the costs of my love for the sport.
