Q:
What will you need to do in order to qualify for the 2014
Olympic Games in Sochi?
A:
I will have perform better than the other Canadian snowboarders in the
qualifying world cup but that is not my focus. Going into the Vancouver
games I was ranked 4
th
in the world and finished a disappointing 12
th
. Sochi
for me is about redemption, about going to get a medal. That’s what I’m fo-
cused on this time.
Q:
What challenges do you face as an athlete?
A:
The biggest challenge you face is yourself. I am what stands in the way
of me being better and it’s up to me to figure that out. It may be controlling
your emotions to keep you calmer, more focused, more intense. It’s up to
each athlete to figure out what their challenges are and to overcome them.
Q:
Do you have any advice for up and coming athletes?
A:
Only those willing to risk going too far will truly know how far they can go.

Q:
Who has been your biggest influence?
A:
In Sport it would be Sarah Burke. In every day life, my Grandparents and
my Parents have been there through the highs and the lows andwant me to be
the best I can be and to be proud of the effort that I have put forward.
Q:
What challenges do you face as an athlete?
A:
Stress, both physical and mental. As a teen, it is all new and many of the
people around me do not understand what I do.
Q:
How do you handle the costs of the sport?
A:
A local group has taken on the Fundraising on my behalf and this support
is awesome and will allow me the resources to achieve my goal. CAN Fund
has also provides resources to help with my training costs.
Q:
Who are the athletes to watch in your discipline?
A:
The sport is progressing rapidly and it is the younger athletes that will be
pushing the hardest. I just competed in New Zealand were I was a “veteran”
of the world Cup circuit and the girls there were amazing.
