The story really begins with the late Dr. John McLean,
who started a group ride for Blue Mountain motorcy-
cle enthusiasts. The group, which consisted mostly of
men would meet at the Jozo’s parking lot every Sun-
day morning. From there they would cruise the quiet
back roads that have made our region so famous. Ini-
tially Wendy, Suzie and Sharon were passengers
leaning to the side to view the road ahead, or other-
wisewatching as the scenery flewby. It didn’t take the
girls long before they became bored. For Suzie it was
only three rides. “I’m toomuch of a control freak to let
someone else drive,” she explains.

You’ve probably seen them
on the roads, cruising
the scenic routes, in no particular rush. After all, it’s about
the ride not the destination. At first glance one might con-
jure images of motorcycle gangs, young adrenaline
junkies, or hard-core motor heads. But upon further inspec-
tion you could be surprised. Your first clue that this is not your
average motorcycle posse might be Sharon’s matching pink
helmet andpink-trimmed fenders.Or it couldbeSuzie’s pony-
tail flying in the wind, or maybe even Nancy’s smile half hid-
den beneath her scarf. No, this is not your typical gang. This
is agroupof womenwho came together, unitedby their pas-
sion for riding andwho have formed lifetime friendships.
