Addingcurbappeal
toone’s home is far easier said thandone.When JerryPatten
of L. Patten&Sonswas contracted to transform thisoutdatedhome’s exterior, his teamhad
theirworkcut out for them. Thevinyl sidingdidnothing for thearchitectureof thehome, and
thewashed-out colour schemeevokedadecidedly fortress-likevibe.
Jerry’s teambeganby redesigning theentire front elevationof thehome. Theoddly shaped
triangularwindowswere replacedand theobsolete Juliet porch, framedwith twocolumns,
was removed,allowingunobstructed light into thehome. Theporchwascompletely re-imag-
ined,withexposedpostandbeamworkandpine tongue-and-grooveceilings,whichcreated
spaceandopenness.
Aswithanyhome renovationproject,oftensurprisesawaitand theycertainlydid in thiscase.
