Escarpment Magazine
Living on top
of the Escarpment wasn’t
at all what Lee Wells and Andy Faas had
envisioned, when they first began search-
ing for a homesite in this region. “We had
our minds set on finding waterfront and we
directed all our energies along the shore,”
explains Lee, “but, the minute we were
introduced to this sweeping, 25 acre,
view property, it was love at first sight.
I remember fondly, digging a hole,
to mark where the kitchen would be and
popping champagne to celebrate our
find.”
‘Drew Haven’, like its owners, is inviting
and welcoming and reflects an elegant
comfort that invites one to smile. Amongst
the luxe, there is a put-your-feet-up charm.
Really quite magical.
The planning and building process of
the impressive 6,100 square foot, main
residence constructed in 2006 by
Patrick B. Coulter & Associates, was
very much a collaboration between
Lee Wells, an internationally renowned
interior designer, and Mr. Coulter.
Influenced by Lee’s love of classic
Connecticut architecture, the pristine,
white clapboard exterior welcomes
visitors to richly hued interior spaces,
where room after room is filled with
treasured objects of historical significance,
collectibles and cherished memorabilia
gathered by Lee and Andy during their
many travels to exotic destinations.
