This is it.
Those were the words of the homeowners featured in this article when they en-
tered an original Monterra Estates property listed for sale back in the fall. The 1991 con-
struction offered everything this young family was looking for: a bright open concept design
with lots of space to host friends and family, beautiful views of the Escarpment, an oversized
attached garage and a great private lot. The best part of all? The original decor, factored
into the list price, provided these new owners with a blank canvas to work with in order to
make it their dream home. The challenge? Making it all happen in less than two months.
The vision was rustic-contemporary and the starting point to make it happen was the ceiling.
Working with Michael Curtis from River Craftsmen Co, the original stucco cathedral ceiling
was brought up to date with 10 inch, fresh sawn, kiln dried, tongue and groove pine, custom
milled fromQuebec. The result?Wow! And in order to make a bigger statement, the owners
carefully selected a carefree, hardwood floor from Antique Impression offered at Georgian
Design Centre. "The medium-dark colour/distressed wood perfectly suits the space & lifestyle
of this active family." says Dave Labelle, owner of Georgian Design Centre.
